Learning Objectives Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to: - Relate an appropriate diagnosis of major depressive disorder (MDD), both single-episode as well as recurrent, differentiating it from bipolar disorder and other conditions
- Recognize clinical features, ordered depression rating scales, and
disability scales to gauge the progress of antidepressants from various classes in order to recognize an inadequate response, with the concomitant need for changes in the treatment regimen
- Describe new strategies, such as adjunctive antipsychotic therapy, in the management of MDD
